Hi everyone!! I have been having a hard time getting back to cabbing and wrapping. Long hot summer, wife's recovery from hip replacement, wife is unemployed now, I been in the dumps a bit in addition to having just got too worn out, whew!! What a year! wife is doing much better now; I'm getting my perspective back, and am really wanting to make some cabs now! So, here are my latest two. Both are in sterling. I been looking at my wraps, looking to see how I might improve them. One of these is Brazilian agate, and I have seen that I should cut this material pretty thin so as to let more light through. Next one will be a little thinner. The other piece is Ocean jasper, I believe. Both are fairly hard material. the agate: and, the jasper: Also thought I would try a black background, what do ya think? Mike

Very nice cabs & wraps. I like your curlys on top. Very clean and smooth. The black background helps them show wonderfully. Great work Mike!!

I agree on both accounts. Is that blue bubblegum holding the quarter? ;D

Those are beautiful. Nice and clean work. Your cabs are very well done. The only thing I would have done differently is I would have only caught the bottom tip of the Ocean Jasper with the wire so as to not have the wire running across the nice pattern in the stone.

Good point Chris! Now that you mentioned it, I agree, I might just remake that one. The blue stuff really is not bubblegum(lol!!), it is some sticky stuff from the hobby store for temporarily holding stuff. Works even better than gum, but don't taste so good tho! lol

just form the wire in a pattern that follows the green, make it wave around the green

Very nice job on both of them. I like the black background as it shows off the pieces well. Glad your wife is doing better. I can understand about being down in the dumps lately and haven't been wrapping much at all. I've got no more internet at home so I don't get on here much for inspiration which doesn't help I suppose. Nuff' about me, just wanted to let you know you aren't alone in the dumps. Glad you are getting back to wrapping and cabbing. Rock therapy is great.

just form the wire in a pattern that follows the green, make it wave around the green I agree. Don't cover up that gorgeous OJ with wire. How about pulling that wire down, like an ocean wave? That will accentuate the green. Gorgeous stone & terrific job on the agate. I like it thick like that - it shows up the colors better. The wraps are beautiful, I'd just make that one change. Jo

Thank you all! Those are some great ideas for the OJ. I think I will let it sit a week or two in the store. If it doesn't sell, then I will bring it home for modifications.

So nice! I especially like the agate - the style of the bail embellishment is fantastic.

Your pendants are beautiful, Mike. And I'm glad life is looking up for you and that your wife is feeling a lot better. Sounds like you had a lot on your plate.
Maybe I missed it in an earlier post somewhere but will someone let me know where I can find the little pendant stands? Thanks.

Barbara, I got those from riogrande.com , probably one of many good sites on the web. Haven't looked, but fire mountain, and kingsley north probably has them also.
