Wow Christopher. You have money there. Are all these coming from the latest batch you aquired, that big pile in your driveway?

The Mexican Opal cabs are from new material. The rough for the Ethiopian I acquired a couple of years ago. I cut it because I have a custom order for it. I didn't find any precious opal in that pile but I did find a little dendritic opal in it. Lots of Brazilian agate nodules, Stone Canyon, Mexican Crazy Lace, Rainbow Obsidian, Bloodstone, Wonderstone, Horse Canyon, Snyders Ranch seam Plume, Carnelian...just to name a few...Let me know if you are looking for any of those and I will make you a killer deal!!

Trust me Christopher. If I wasn't unemployed and standing in the soup line, I'd buy your whole pile. Hide the best for next month. Maybe Santa will be good to me. I already told all the family no gifts, just money for rocks. See, I'm simple to buy for!

It's a beaut! How did you dop it? My welo's came off in chunks when I tried to get the superglued nail off ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Afraid to use acetone on opal. T

This one I actually did it without a dop. Just used my fingers...takes too long to dop even with superglue and baking soda!! I use super glue to dop my opals when I dop. I have never had the acetone hurt any of my opals. I usually let them set for several hours even overnight. If they do not come right off the dop I let them soak longer. Because of all this I usually just use my fingers because I hate waiting.
Larry just let me know when you are ready!! Send me a PM and let me know what you are interested in.
The Welo Ethiopian Opals are a very finicky stone. I have had them crack because of minor vibrations. They are very sensitive. Also for me they have been a low yield rough. Nice stones but low yeild. I started with a 27 carat rough nodule and ended up with a 4.7 carat stone that has what I consider a flaw with the orangey color zoning. I could grind it out but then I would loose more weight. I cut enough of it away so the color play shows through and it is not unattractive with it there so I left it.
