Well, I have been pretty busy with Woody's Buttes material for the past couple of weeks. I've been able to get some really nice points and blades. It is probably the best material I have worked so far, and I have gotten some of my best pieces from it too. There are lots of patterns and colors popping out - I wish I had a better camera to do them justice. There is everything form Silver Sheen, Gold Sheen, Mahogany, Green, Tiger Skin Mahogany and Butters. Take a look.... Largest are 4" down to about 1 1/2"... About 2 1/2".... An attempted Paleo dagger on top - about 3 1/2".... Thanks for looking! Dave

I took all my Knapping tools up to my shack on the Mississippi River earlier in the year and never picked them up all summer.
I brought them home last weekend and now you got me inspired. Guess I will have to get them out this week and check to see if I bleed as easily as I did last spring !
Your points are looking really good !

Thanks guys! Harley - Speeking of bleeding, its time for me to take a little break from it - especially working with the glass - have to let the fingers heal up from all the cuts!?! ;D

Love the dagger. Don't know anything about points, but I do like the texture of all of the above, and the dagger simply stands out because I can imagine wrapping one end with leather-strips and have a finished product that I could see mounted on my wall.

kk - Its funny that you mentioned wrapping the dagger. I ended up making a socketed bone handle for it and wrapped it as a knife. It was the first piece that sold at the trade show we did last Friday. I have a picture that I will post soon along with some of the other points I also turned into halfted knives.

Looking good! No stacks, hinges or steps. If you abrade a little bit inside your notches after each flake detachment, you'll like what you get.
Good chipping, Michael

Thanks Michael! - Notching is the hardest part for me. It always seems like they get a bit wide, and sometimes I lose my tabs and the bases come away smaller. I need to use a smaller punch to narrow down my channels. Thanks for the tip with the abrading!!
