I know the ranch owner of the property I collect on. He says the cows that graze there do far more damage than an atv. I have a deal that while I am out collecting that I check on the fence and fix any places that have damage. It's a pretty good deal.
The site listed in the gem trails of NM book is on private property, but many people go collecing there without problems.
