Well I'll start with the funny story...I've not spent a lot of time cabbing but I have completed a couple of decent stones over the past couple of weeks with a ton of effort put into them. The entire time I was cabbing, I was thinking about how difficult it was. I could not get the stones to shine. Every time I'd move onto the next stage, I'd find a really deep scratch. I could not get through the 600 stage without finding a scratch that should have been removed with the 600 easily. Since I had no training, I moved onto the 1200 and went through a few 1200 belts to get the scratches out. It took a lot of time! Fast forward to today...I had to change my 400 and 600 belts. I was a little surprised to find I had the two belts switched around. I was actually reverse sanding the entire time. I am a complete moron. I thought that the 600 belt felt rougher than the 400 when I was sanding but I thought I was just imagining things! Well, these two went a lot faster today! If you see something wrong with them, please let me know. It is the only way I will improve! Thanks for looking. ![](http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b67/shermlock/c725a6ba.jpg) ![](http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b67/shermlock/ad823f09.jpg) ![](http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b67/shermlock/cc9f5479.jpg) ![](http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b67/shermlock/e8cb7194.jpg)

Super nice polish. Don't worry, you may have wasted time, but mistakes happen! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

IMHO, the best lessons are learned by making mistakes. It was a simple one, no harm no foul. Your cabs are fantastic!

Them look fine. I usually use a 220 belt fer gettn the scratche out. As Im sandn, I wipe em of my bare arm. If the scrathes are still there I keep on sandn. I spend an inordinate time on 220. Read an article in rock&gem. The trick he suggested was take a sharpy an paint the cab. When the marker is gone scratchs should be also. Aint tried it myself. Later Clyde

Great cabs, and great story. I love stories like this; it makes me feel slightly less inept with the multitudes of mistakes that I make.

Heck of a shine! Your're really doing well. Don't feel bad about the belt thingee. I'm not at all mechanically skilled and caught myself putting on my Nova wheels on my Genie in the wrong order one time. If they weren't different colors I'd never have caught it until it was too late. *L* Top of that, I change my wheels so seldom that I usually forget how to take them off between times and have to ask someone how every few years.....Mel
