I'm still new to tumbling. I have some Lake superior agates, but I'm looking into buying a bunch of rough agates to tumble while I'm there. Do you guys have any recommendations as to what I should get?

Don't know what but best shows for rough are the Electric Park and across the street at Electric Park RV Show. I would take advantage of the Australians and dealers from other countries.

We will be at Electric park (Next to John from JS Gems) Australia Mineral Mines / Crystal world. We have some different Nodular agates from Australia and some new ones from Indonesia as well. Numerous Rough delaers at Electric Park and they have expanded with a new large tent behind the RV side so there will be even more to look at Paul Orchids9

Thanks for the ideas. I already have a list of some display pieces I want to find while down there, but really just started getting into agates for tumbling. Thanks again!!!

Tucson is by and large all about volume buying. If you could make it to Quartzsite you could find better prices on smaller quantities. The first time I went to Tucson I was surprised to see the same dealers I saw in Quartzsite selling the same rock at 3 times the price. 30 days at Desert Gardens with RV hook up is $425. Electric Park RV is something like $1800 for two weeks. The BD/MK tent is something like $3000 at Electric Park . Lots of overhead exspenses. Electric Park RV is pretty much tailgate type show like Desert Gardens with reasonable prices. Electric Park has many wonderful international dealers with materials you don't find locally. The motel shows along the freeway are more retail buyer oriented. Most of the really big shows around town are wholesale only bead/jewelry/finished goods shows. Missing it already.

Just stop here in New Mexico and buy all my rocks and you will save 12 hours of driving. Make sure you get here on Wednesday because we hope to leave for Tucson on Thursday. Just Kidding. I hope to make it for my first time as well.
