This is something I'm doing for my siblings and their Families for Christmas this year. Thought I'd post a few pics as well as the poem that I'm putting along with them. I have drilled holes in them and I am going to try to find a hangy thing I can hang them on. So they can display them somewhere year round. BTW...the pics look better than they do in person. ;D I'm no master at intarsia, and it's tough to find slabs all the same thicknesses without a flat lap. I'm going to work on a few during the coming year and these will decorate my tree for next year. I will also try matching slab patterns better. Since Christmas is still a few weeks away, I think the poem is awesome and something to live by everyday. Christmas Star A diamond shines no brighter than that lovely Christmas star. It shines in all its brilliance; it's seen from near or far. A symbol of the Christ child as He lay upon the hay, It tells to all the waiting world a King was born that day. O Bethlehem Star keep shining - give us faith and hope and love. Keep our thoughts forever turning to the Savior up above. Give us strength and hope and courage to do our best by far And never falter in our faith as we watch that Christmas star. Brazilian Agate, Pihrana Agate, Dino Bonex2, Moss Agate and Plume Agate. 6 out of 12 finished.....

Steve, These are wonderful gifts that conveys what Christmas is all about. It makes them even more special that they are given from your heart and not a wallet! Your gift and poem are right on! John

The bold modern piece at the bottom is a true eye-catcher but I'm very fond of that moss agate star as well. How did you accomplish this? Is it epoxy against a clear quartz or plate glass back? I can see that you cut 5 kite-shaped pieces per star but I'm not as confident that I have figured out the final step of putting the stars together.

Man, Steve, you made a fantastic job on these stars! What a precisse work, all the five stones meeting together in the very center of the stars. What a craftmanship!
Not to mention the beauty of the stars. The stones are gorgeous, I especially like the red dino and the one in the last photo.

Thanks Everyone! Trust me...like I said...much better in the pictures than in person. All the pieces are glued together. It's been a bit tricky to get them all to fit exact. As you can see...some of the shapes are not straight and even...but I doubt every star in the universe is perfect either. Another problem I had is I waited to long to start these. The idea just popped up into my head a few weeks ago. So I feel a bit rushed. No backing on any of these. I still need to finsih up 6 more. I did find some ornament holders online which I'm going to purchase. They will look pretty good hanging on these.....I'm kinda excited! Thanks Again Everyone! Steve

I think this is the 3rd or 4th year I'm wishing I was on your Christmas list. Each year seems to get better and better.

Those are great Steve!. My wife did some in Stained Glass and copperfoil a few years and I never thought about making them in thin slabs

That is a wonderful gift with an awesome poem to go with it. I would echo what John (BuiltonRock) said. This is truly a gift from the heart.
