Another Christmas Gift. I love FREE gifts and Gifts from the Heart! I am also putting together little collage type thingies...and giving these to my closest siblings as well as my parents. My sisters wouldn't much appreciate these as much as my brothers. Pictures of my various hikes, a butterfly, a relic or two with some rocks. This is the first one...turned out better than i thought. Might glue some dried flowers in the bare spots....i just don't want to over-do it. What do you think??? Thanks for looking. Steve

Maybe I should give them to my sisters too than. My brothers wives will enjoy them though. My sisters are particular with interior decorating and stuff. If they recieve dthem they'd go into a box in storage after Christmas. steve

Very nice gift. I like to see one of your butterflies again.
Is there a rusted washer glued on the limb?? Maybe from those old mines in the mountains?

Jack...I think your right. Everything else is rustic than the bright green photo. Its easy to change them out since they are just plastic frames. Might try a different picture. Thanks for your feedback. Adrian...good eye. It is a rusted washer. I have several relics, cans, utensils, spikes and nails. Each one will be unique. Thanks for the comments. Steve

Steve, anybody can drive to a store and pick up a frame for a few bucks to give as a gift, but what you have created here is PRICELESS! Jo

I like collage, but I had not thought about doing a 3-D collage. Will have to experiment sometime. I always like a collage to have a color theme. So, as others say, since the green is out of the color theme for this piece, I would replace it with a different photo. You could do a different collage that was all green-themed...for the green-themed collage, I would not use a relic. Save those for the western/Earthtone themes.
I think your first instinct was probably right about who would like the gift. If your brothers have a more creative/free-form decorating style, with eclectic and western items, they would like the piece. If your sisters have a more "clean" spare officey-y looking decorating style with everything in its place, then they might just pack the piece away, not knowing where to put it. One of my female relatives got into this very "clean" modern decorating style and almost all of her decorative items have vanished, except for a few costly Art Nouveau (Deco?) items. My humble creations wouldn't fit in there and would be swept into the attic...easier to give these folk art/hand-created gifts to folks who like to have a colorful and crowded museum of fascinating items.
