Hello Everyone , I've been lurking for a while before Joining. About 40 years ago I worked in Botswana in a place called Selibi Phikwe. We didn't have much time off (It was a copper/nickel mine) But I used to go with and old Irish guy collecting agates. I didn't know what a geode looked like, I just picked up the stones with pretty colours. I worked in the Workshop so he ( He was a manager) had me build him a tumbler. It was octagonal. I'd sneak a look at them when I was Nightshift , and was amazed by the colours and it always stuck with me. I was building a slab saw when I left. Now I'm retired, Ive been all over the World and I visited a Rock Shop recently an purchased a wee cheap Tumbler Kit and I've caught the bug. I've quickly decided I want a cabbing Machine. and I'm planning a visit to the south Ayrshire beaches. I'm a bit of a cripple now so I'll just take it slowly slowly. I've learned such a lot on this forum and I'm obliged to all who make it so appealing. JOCKSTRAP

Welcome! Our resident Stirlinshireman pretty much put you onto the locals, but as you have already found, this forum is a wealth of information. BTW, my family (Woodside) originated in Ayr. Woody

Welcome to the forum. I have a brother in law from Scotland. I try not to hold it against other Scots though.
