The wind fina;lly stopped blowing and the sun came out for a couple hours so i took advantage of it to wash and reload my tumbler barrels. I was working away in the creek with the usual hound sniffing around and "fuzzy cat" climbing up on my shoulders to watch what i was doing. I started getting a funny feeling i was being watched and i have been on slightly high alert since finding some fresh cougar tracks just up the hill a few days ago. I was relieved to see it was just my new buddies, the bighorn sheep which decided to lay down on the ledge above me and watch me work. They have gotten so relaxed around me and my dog that they regularly come within about 40-50 yards while i am out in the yard. First pic is where i was working in the creek and Marley watching the sheep on the cliffs. It is hard to see through the trees but there are at least 6 sheep in this shot. When i finished cleaning everything up i decided to take a few minutes and take some shots for RTH. Sheep and tumbler barrels. Then i asked Marley to pose for a couple shots and "fuzzy cat" even came over to get in the scene. I almost felt like doctor doolittle with all the animals hanging around me today. I guess these kind of "supervisors" are better than having the boss looking over my shoulder all day. I tell ya', it's a rough life out here. Sampson

As relaxed as those sheep appear they obviously don't consider you a threat factor !
Great photos,

Awesome spectators. Bighorn are my fantasy hunt. I say fantasy because I'll never be in near good enough shape to stalk them through the mountains! I sure enjoy pictures of them though.

I guess as long as all the sheep are around it is less likely that the cougar is...

Glad you guys like the pics, i sure enjoy being able to take them and it is nice to be able to share them with others. yea Harley, I am in the yard with my dog so much the sheep are getting really used to me. Although, i think i surprised them a couple times when i was climbing around up the cliffs chipping off rocks. I don't think they see many people up on the rocks with them. Yea Toad, Bears, wolves, etc don't bother me much but there is just something about cougars that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I think the one the other day was just travelling through, his tracks went a long distance in a straight line along the ridge, not twisting and turning around like he was prowling or hunting. Well Nate, If you dream of hunting bighorn then this next pic is for you. He is the kind of animal that people dream of taking, and here he is walking around in my front yard. Enjoy. Sampson

It must be nice living in paradise. How far are you from civilization? Or should I say uncivilization. I had to go to Yellowstone to get this shot. Jim

Wow, everyone wants to get in on the tumbling action. I like you helpers and visitors. Fuzzy cat stole the show in my opinion. Steve

Animals know instinctively which humans to trust. I guess you have what it takes.

Yea Donnie, Marley is so used to posing for pics he almost gives me that look like, "Really dad, another picture?" but he always sits nice and waits for me to get the shot.
Hey Jim, I am pretty far out in the boonies here. It is only about ten minuted to the nearest paved road two ridges over then about another ten minutes to a small village that has gas station, post office, etc. But to get to the nearest city of any size is about an hour and a half drive. It is nice and quiet out here with lots of wildlife and room to roam,..... just the way i like it.
Glad you like fuzzy cat Steve. He was just skin and bones when i moved in here and i wasn't sure if he was going to make it in the winter but he is a great mouser/hunter and has filled out well now that i am here and he gets regular feeding. He is sooooo soft and super friendly and as you can see in the pic he gets along with my dog really well. He does have an annoying habit of jumping up on my shoulders while i am working in the shop or elsewhere, .... i'll have to stop that once it get warm and i dont have a big coat on to protect me from his claws.
Yea Blr, I always seem to get along well with animals. My neighbor thought i was nuts when he saw me out in the field scratching his 2000lb bull with my dog right beside me. I guess the bull is usually pretty ornory but he seemd to like me.
Marley is a great dog Northshore, he just seems to know that it is ok to chase the coyotes away but doesn't bother wildlife when i am with him. He does give me the look and a little whine every once in a while when they get close,... kinda like he is asking if he can chase them, but he always listens well and stays pretty relaxed.

Hey Steve, you said fuzzy cat stole the show but you could barely see him in that shot. Here is a better shot of him i took this afternoon. He is one of the best mousers i have ever seen.
