Are you using Firefox for your web browser? if not, download and install it here: www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/Once installed, open Fire Fox and go to Tools -> Add-ons From the add-on manager screen, search for "NoScript" and then install the NoScript 2.2.3 add-on. While you're there, search for "adblock" and install the Adblock Plus 2.0.1 add-on. use the "easy list" when prompted to configure the add-on. If you need any other help, let me know.

I disabled the xmas floater script with the noscript addon and I can't believe how much faster browsing the forums is. that script was really bogging down my browser.

I thought that I could get rid of these floaters by clicking on the actual floating figure. Sort of like a shooting gallery. Well that was sort of fun for a bit until I noticed a strange thing. When I actually clicked on one of the little buggers the dam thing opened a window to some wierd website. I was wondering if anyone knows what this is. Here is a link to the site that I was bbrought to when I clicked on old St Nic www.peters1.dk/Any idea what this is? Stu

Jim, It is a pretty funny shot. I found it on the web a long time ago, used part of it for my Christmas avatar a couple of years ago. Makes good email stationary too...

When I clicked on the damn thing it took me to some website all written in German. I once put Firefox on my puter and it started somehow mixing it up with the Windows browser. Had to boot Firefox outta here. I know lotsa folks who have had problems with it and some with crippling results. Any other way to kill the bastards?

Don, I think this is what you need to do:
1) Tools Menu, click on "Add-ons"
2) On the Upper Left you will see "Get Add-ons" , "Extensions" , "Appearance" & "Plugins"
3) I'm pretty sure you click on "Plunins; it will list all your "Plugins" , & on the far right of the screen opposite each plugin there is a "Disable" button.
4) Click the disable button for the plugin that you want to disable. **NOTE** If the problem a plugin isn't in "Plugins", then try the "Extensions" & the same thing happen.
Good Luck, I hope this solves your problem. You are always such a help all the time on this Board, time to return the favor (if it works!)

The link is to the person who coded the program which makes the floaters float.
Simply turning off javascript in the browser will stop the floaters. Simply turning down the volume on the pc will stop the noise.
In either event - I will stop both in a couple of days anyway.
I dont even do this every year.
