We met up with Christopher 7:00am at the Redrock Canyon Store and headed back out to our rock hounding site. We parked our vehicles half way up the hill this time. Christopher headed off to the other side of the mountain! He found some interesting petrified wood. I tried to find more yellow/white and maroon/white jasp-ag and had trouble finding the exact locations. Eventually did find it and got 2 buckets worth. Wasn't fun carrying it back.

Had to holler for Diane to bring another empty bucket.

Then Christopher asked if we wanted to go to another location for some nice red jasper and we of course said sure. Off we went to the other side of the El Paso mountains. It was a pretty rough road and would be tough without a high clearance vehicle. Christopher mentioned it was just off the road so off I went with no camera or bucket. The jasper was multi colored red/orange with very unique patterns. Then he mentioned green common opal with dendrites and we kept hiking to the other side of the hill. The whole darn hill was covered in the stuff. I hand carried back a few samples and we will go back in a future trip to get more. He then took us to a few other sites to check the material out.
Weather was beautiful after we warmed up in the sunshine. We had such a great time. The 3 buckets of material will keep me busy for a while. Sorry I didn't take too many pictures but we were busy picking up rocks and hiking.

This one is for my 85 year old mom who has always been crazy about rocks. Her favorite color is pink & mauve. This opal will sit on her end table for a long time. Hope she doesn't throw it at my dad!
