Most people when they start making something start counting "first", "second", "third", "fourth" and on up. My counting is much easier when it comes to wire wrapping. I count "first" then "last" and I save a lot of time with the counting. Now this is not written in stone because I have changed my mind before so maybe when I get bored with everything else there may be another wrap pop up but my six thumbs are stopping at "last" for now. The "first", the one on the left, has a lot of dings in the wire and a bad top wrap but I have a lot of excuses that I will not go into here. I went with the wire that I had on hand and I am glad that I did not invest in a new batch of wire that I would probably never use. The second is a black agate that I will probably hang in the window where it will look good in the sunlight. Any advice will be appreciated. Jim

Jim, they actually look pretty good! Your binding wires are nice & tight. Symmetrically, they look good. The wires at the top of the black one should maybe be curled up or tucked away somewhere but only so you don't have sharp edges exposed.

I agree, they look really good to me too Jim. I think you're being way to had on yourself. A lot of people say square wire is easier to wrap with because it kinda sits together so nicely, also the temper of the wire may be an issue too. So maybe pick up some dead soft or half hard 21 ga square and some 1/2 round 22 ga copper wire ( it's really inexpensive) and give 'er another shot.

I think they look great, Jim! Especially for just starting wrapping. I want to get into it too, have more studying to do first before buying tools and wire.

Thanks All. I was worried about the ends of the wires so I filed them smooth and made sure that they were tight against the stone. since they are not curled there should be no problem with them catching and pulling other than the weight of the stone. I just wanted to try something different because I do not like the fluff and I am a plain kind of guy. Well, that and the fact that it was super easy. lol Maybe if I do start wrapping sometime the straight wires will be my trademark. I can advertise them as never ever getting hung up in yours or anyone elses clothing, hair or ear rings. Jim

I think you did a good job on them. It's hard when you have to make do with what you have on hand but looks like you made do just fine. Those bail wires are definitely nice, tight, and even. Ya done good.
