Howdy folks, Three years after my move and I'm still taking junk out of storage. Thought I'd post a pic or two of some guns some of you might find interesting. I used to do a lot of competitive black powder shooting and the Pennsylvania style flintlock in the first pic is one I built myself from a kit for long distance shooting. It's a heavy sucker in 50 caliber with double set triggers and a 32 inch barrel. I didn't do a really good job of it as I'm not much of a craftsman ( The old "take $200 worth of parts and build a $100 rifle" thing) but that rifle does shoot real straight. The lower rifle is a Schuetzen Rifle probably made by a German craftsman right here in the Texas Hill Country. These are long range target rifles and are hand crafted and usually one of a kind. This one was built around turn of the century and is really unusual in that it's in 22LR caliber ( most are big bore metric calibers) and it actually has a ported false muzzle which was an innovation about 80 years ahead of it's time. This is a closer sot of the reciever of the Schuetzen. It has really cool sights with a multi-aperture bronze peep that has windage and elevation adjusted by a key like a clock key. Color case hardened reciever and again double set triggers. MUst have been scoped at one time in it's life but someone put a more modern front sight on for long range shooting. Another unusual rifle. These are sometimes called buggy rifles or bicycle rifles because folks sometimes rested them over the handlebars of a bike or rails of a buggy. Again 22LR and double set triggers with an odd shotgun like break action that has a forward folding lever. Fun little sucker to plink with!.....Mel

LOL! I'm not a gun nut and I still liked your photos. Craftsmanship in any form is appreciated, and shhhh, I don't know enough to know that the one you built yourself is less than perfect.

Those are some real nice RIFLES. Remember that little ditty in Full Metal Jacket. It went something lioke this "This is my rifle and this is my gun (tug tug). Well you get the picture. If not see the movie. It was a very real depiction of boot camp. Right Wampidy? Have a GREAT CHRISTMAS Stu

This is for fightin. This is for fun.
Don't have any antique long guns, but I do have a Belgian made double barreled pistol. Can't find pin fire cartridges for it though. The triggers fold down flat so it can be slipped in a boot.

Those are great Mel but that Schuetzen is a work of art.

Curt; The schuetzy is a favorite of mine too. One of these days I'm going to find me an appropriate scope for it and scope it up. As it is now, it's set for real long distances and is deadly accurate but is not good for shorter distances.
Love your arsenal Geoff. Very well rounded though seal whackers are kind of politically incorrect these days *L*. You ever see a baby fur seal up close? Takes a cold friggin heart to kill one of those little fellers. Like the hatchet. I lost my tommy hawk somewhere in the move and have to get me a new one. Love those old 45-70's too. You gots to lob the bullets a bit but they do knock things down pretty good. My favorite street hoser is a Mossberg 930 SPX. Fill that sucker up with Centurian SPX buck and ball ammo and zombie apocalypse be damned *L*
Jake and Stu. *L* I made that gun/rifle mistake in basic training and spent a good while circling the brick barracks at Ft Lost in the Woods with my M-16 held high and the chant on my lips. It were snowing too and that weren't fun. Tried to explain to the DI that a rifle is a "long gun" but he weren't buying it *L*...Mel
PS: Our platoon in basic actually had the distinction of being the only platoon called into an assembly for a "talkin too" by the local sky pilot who claimed we were the most vulgar bunch of trainees he had ever encountered. Seems the folks at the wimmen's barracks complained about our singing (" Look to the left and what do ya see. Bunch of wimmens in miz a ree" and patented coordinated hip thrusting moves accompanied by loud hoo ahhs that we directed their way while marching by their housing ( I still claim Jim Carry stole our moves for Ace Ventura) *L*

This is what I stick inside my boot. 22 Hornet & 223 shoot 1" groups at 100yds. I've been reloading/hunting my whole life. Dad use to have 2 FFL's. He use to be in black powder and now I don't know what to do with it all. Myself I have around 25 dies. Sold most of the guns but kept the good ones. Great collection Mel.

Great pics guys. I love the looks of those old black powders but for day to day bush carry i prefer sometihing a little more modern. Here is a pic of my marlin 1895-g in 45-70 that i like to carry for the bears. Stopping for a coffee on one of the claims.

Not a gun nut, but appreciate seeing all these fine arms. LOL'd at the Zombie Apocalypse set up. Hope the seal club goes unused. You know the warranty is void if the seal is broken ;D
