The local club and I drove out to a rock sale this new years eve day. It was a collection from a family member who had passed away. It was a collection amassed over the decades so there was lots of good stuff. At 20 cents a pound I was able to load up with lots of goodies. I ended up with about 450 pounds. It's a lot of CA, NV, and OR stuff. I got lots of pet wood, Jasper's, obsidian, agates, carnelian, and plenty of idontknowite. My goal was to keep the tumbler fed and I got a lot of cool rocks to keep it happy. It was a ton of fun too. It was nice to chat with fellow rock nuts and give part of a lifelong collection a new home where it will continue to be appreciated. Here's the haul. I'm going to sort it all and get some pictures tomorrow.

Wow, can't beat 20 cents/lb!! I'd say you might be close to exceeding your wagon's capacity there Steve ;D
Great score, looking forward to some close ups!

OK, finally took some pictures of the goodies. I got it all sorted and figured out. Some of these I have never seen. Here ya go ;D Steve Jaspers, some Lavic siding: Pet wood: Came across Fred Flintstone's butter knife: Big chunck of moss: Couple buckets of obsidian. I picked up lots of little "obsidian cookies". I figured they are preshaped for the tumbler: Carnelian. It's just right for tumbling and has a nice mix of white to orange. I already got some rolling! Chunk of jade: Strange clear agatized rock. It looks like a limb cast, but is whiteish: Pretty blueish jasper guy: And now for the Idontknowites. ID's would be helpful. This is mostly CA,OR and NV stuff if that helps. Brown limb-cast like agate. It varies in color almost to pink, but is mostly brown: Closeup: Another mystery rock, it's some kind of jasper/agate. It has a green crust and multicolored inside. There was a note on another chunk that said :"Purple agate near McDermit" Closeups: Purple agate with some fortification. Any ideas? Sure is pretty. Closeups. This stuff is hard to photograph. It's a little darker and more purple: Unknown agate. Not all solid but has really nice warm reddish colors. More stuff for the tumbler ;D: Closeup: I found a lot of this green stuff. It's not waxy like jade. My wife always complains I never bring home green rocks. Here ya go honey ;D Slab of the same stuff:

Man that 'pretty blueish jasper' is awesome! Love the McDermitt material too. The last slab looks a lot like the fucshite in quartz found near Maricopa AZ. You sure scored big there bud!!

20 cents a pound is cheap for junk let alone great rocks like those. Shame I live 3000 miles away from all the good sales. lol I agree about the mariposa, the stuff cabs up nice. Hopefully your tumblers like it.

Wonderful stuff!!!
Well - Texas Springs, Nevada produces pink limb casts. I don't know if the lesser quality material is brown or not, but it is the first thing that comes to mind.
As for that purple banded material - I'm not saying it is... and posting a lil better photos might aid ... but that purple reminds me of Holly (Holley) Blue... and if that's the case...DUDE!!!! SCORE!!!
That McDermitt looks interesting as well...
