I started faceting this summer after I met a couple rock hounds who do this in addition to their hounding and cabbing.... I'm real new to this and there is a long learning curve... I'm also not good with photography...I'd rather play with rocks!

Those are good and sharp. I prefer meet point faceting also.
I bet you were all kinds of excited over those. I know I would be.

Well, I have to make a correction. It seems I cut an aqua instead of a topaz! A long-time faceter gave me a piece of rough this summer before I ever faceted anything and said "cut this once you've cut some quartz". I was so flabbergasted that I may have heard him wrong. Anyway, I cut it and when I posted on a faceting board that I polished easily with cerium they said "not topaz, maybe aqua". So I just checked specific gravity and hardness...it's aqua! Then dear hubby took much nicer pics....

I have two Raytech Shaws and an old Exacta. Weird story...the elderly gentleman who got us into cabbing (sold us his old Frantom combo unit for my hubby to rework) passed away this spring. His relatives sold us his rock estate and we got one faceter. Then our online rock club (MAGMA) had two more faceters and supplies for sale so we bought them for parts. Turns out these were in even better shape! So I started this summer and hope to do more. The faceting boards aren't as active as RTH, but the rock people there are as generous with their time, knowledge, and rough as any here.

Rock people are good people.

Wow those are wonderful! Did you take classes or are these masterpieces all the result of hands on guidance from your friends teachings?

I've seen a bunch of beautiful faceted stones at my rock club show and tell but to my knowledge, they were sent out and not done by any of our members.
