My daughter Brooke and I spent the day up north on a field trip with our rock club. My right passenger brake pad started grinding when we got there so it was quite stressful getting the 2 hours back home. Made it safe and sound though and had bucket loads of fun.... literally ;D! We went to a private collectors Museum and Rock shop. We were also going to dig stilpnomelane but it was too snowed in. The cool folks that own the collection and shop schedule tours and special indoor rock-hounding days for local rock clubs. Heck yeah! They had old stock slabs and rough for 50 cents a pound! It was also a potluck and I sure enjoyed hearing their stories from 40+ years ago. Why is it that rock-hounds are just the greatest people God ever created?!!! Anyway, I could be taking pictures of the 100+ lbs I brought home today but just don't have enough time. Here's a few varieties of my new pieces though!!! I NEED to know what this is!!! It has all of the blues from Chrys to Azurite yet it is agatized. Man oh man, never seen anything like it! Picked up some outrageous poppies and several old Tee-pee Canyon slabs, yum! Some purplish dendritic stuff, looks like it might make some cool cabs. Star coral, first time seeing this: Got many different varieties of Jade, a friend beat me to the brick of black jade though This is some sort of red brecciated stuff. Looked very cool! I'm pretty excited to go through the rest of it..... I don't even know what Brooke tossed in there yet, she's got good taste though, should be fun!

The last one is probably Stoney Creek. This trip turned out better than it started out for sure. Woody

If the first one looks like chrysacolla but agatized it could be gem silica. Really nice sellection.

Wow what a score for that price! Looks like those folks really collected all over the place. Your Tee pee though, is a classic Dryhead which to me is a greater prize than a Tee Pee. Don't think your coral is actually coral either. Looks like one of the starburst type rhyolites of which there are many varieties. The poppy could be native Washington material but is also very similar to the small orb poppy from the old Strawberry jasper vein up by our old ranch near Hornitos , CA. Great looking jades too......Mel

Thank you for the ID's Woody, John and Mel! John, I think you are right. Holding it up to the light, the lighter blues are transparent but the darker blues are not. So many people were talking to the owner that I didn't get much of a chance to get things ID'ed. I did ask him about the Tee-Pee (Dryhead) and he said that he had it for so long and his memory was going so it was hard to remember the names of some of the items. Mel, you never cease to amaze me, you are a walking encyclopedia!!!! Blue back-lit:

Man,
Two incredible rock sale posts in a row... I'm dying I'm dying....
This weekend there was a sale in Cerritos that was posted on LA Rocks. Evidently it turned into a zoo. By noon the sale had been stopped and the sisters of the man who had passed away had shut down the sale. They claimed weather and I read from another post that their scale had broke. It's amazing how predatory these sales can become. I'm glad you had such a wonderful experience with a generous host.

Good bunch , i like that first one, i don`t know, Dumo may be a possibility, Dumo can be blue and green in the same rock , and occurs with quartz , as is chry/azurite/quartz
