So, I've run into a problem, the few places I'd been selling my jewelry at I recently had to take my jewelry out of because of the way business, advertising and the whole store was being run. So I've made up a very simple portfolio that I can send to potential vendors and would love some feedback on it from everyone. Even if you're not big into business or retail, that mean's your point of view is from the consumer view and I love to hear any and every point of view! Here's the link: www.zorias.com/portfolioHere's what I'd like critiqued: Does it pop? Is it easy to use? What questions do you have or think a vendor would have after using it? Would you sell my jewelry if you had a store? What kind of store do you think the jewelry in the portfolio is appropriate for? ANY and ALL critiques are welcome and will help! Thank you!!! - Krista

I love your work. My first impression of your potfolio was How does it work. After playing with the mouse I figured it out. In my opinion people are generally lazy and will not expend the effort to figure something out unless they have to. So even though your potfolio is simple you need to spell it out as to what to click to view your work. Remember many buyers of your product are not computer people. I see my mother in law loving your creations but wold be lost trying to figure out how to see them. Next you need to put the price and the size of the piece. Money talks and as a consumer that is generally what I look for after i am enticed into the store by a pretty display. Other than those suggestions I think it is very nice. Stu

I like it. For me it was easy to navigate, and looked great.
I feel this may be splitting hairs, but I did notice a few typos on the "About Zoria's" page. You have "bass" instead of "base" metal in the gold filled wire description, and I don't think you need a comma between natural & stones in the stones description.

Hey Krista, I think it looks great. The pictures slide easily from one to the other. The only thing I think you don't need is the zoom. The size of the pictures you are showing is more than substantial. I also think your photography looks very good. It shows enough detail and you don't have any major hot spots. Also, places you might sell it are upscale hair salons, Gift shops at hospitals, of course art galleries of any kind, upscale women's stores. We have an upscale women's store here in town and they're exclusive with a local jewelry designer here in town. I hope this helps. Beautiful work.. Deb

Very easy to use site, but I agree make it even easier and spell out what needs to be done.
Also might be good to have an option to look at all the works at once - with the pics being clickable to enlarge. Nicely done.

Oh my goodness! Thank you everyone, I'm so glad I got so many responses. I have fixed everything people have commented on, even those that pmed me The one thing I didn't change is that the pictures still expand, I wish I could make them expand less but in the software I'm using it's all or nothing, but some of the pieces I feel need to have the option of looking closer, like the bracelets. I also didn't add an extra gallery type thing because I don't know how to do that lol. If you take another look let me know anything else that you think needs changing! And thank you so much for the spelling errors, the program I'm using doesn't always tell me about grammar mistakes. Krista

I checked it out and it looks great. Looks like you put a lot of work into it and really showcased your work beautifully. I don't have any suggestions for changes, seems fine to me but I'm not a jewelry business wiz.

I think that the words should not wrap. For example, Exquisite, when you zoom in and the little description box pops up, the word wire has the w at the end of the second sentence with the letters ire on the third sentence, this is because of the word wrapping. This happens on several of the descriptions only in zoom.
Hope this helps,
Tammy

Hi Krista I had no problem with the presentation and saw the prices right off although the price could be a little bigger.
I do not know a damn thing about jewelry stores but I think that your work should be in one. Have you presented your work to any jewelers? There may be some that would take your pieces on consignment or buy them outright. I have sold to museum gift shops and sold on consignment at museums also. Some museums generate a lot of traffic and if it is in a tourist area those people like to purchase souvenirs. Jewelry is always popular and things made locally top the list. Not sure why anyone would want to go to Nebraska though. lol
Seeing photos of your work and holding it in your hand are two completely different experiences. For that reason I think that presenting your work to vendors in person is the best way to go. When I received the piece that you sent to me I was awe struck when I picked it up and I think that a vendor would feel the same way.
Just an idea. Hope it helps Jim

Aww, thanks Jim I haven't gone to any true jewelry stores, but I've had a lead to one that I want to check out, I just haven't gotten to going over yet. I had my stuff in a museum before, but they just didn't sell. It just may be that no one does want to come to Nebraska!!! Lol, we have corn here, that's about it. Oh and the Huskers lol. Jim, you just let me know if you want another, and heck let me know when you get another batch of cabs done, I'll buy some. I really love all of the ones I got from you, just great weight, cut and polish. Krista

Thank you for the offer. I have been pretty lazy lately but I do have a new batch that I will finish polishing today. Selling them to you beats the hell out of drilling them and trying to sell them to the tourists. lol
My choice of stones and finishing them has improved quite a bit this winter so I am turning out some pretty nice cabs. From now on I will take pics of all of them and give you first choice. Shipping them to you and you sending back the ones that you do not want is another option. You must have insured the cab that you wrapped and sent back to me because the postage seemed really high. That would not be necessary for a few cabs. The chance of them getting lost is pretty slim.
I will be in touch and thanks again for the compliment. Jim

Yup, I insure and track every piece I put in the mail, by the time I've chosen a stone, and sat down and wrapped it I pretty much love them and couldn't bear to have them lost. Especially when it's a stone someone else is really counting on having back Krista
