I do a little gold pannin here in South Dakota but the rocks have caught my eye. I am thinking about the Raytech tumble vibe TV-5. It is fairly inexpensive. the reason for a Vibe. is that I dont want to change the shape of the rocks too much and they dont have to have a showroom shine on them, just polished up a bit. I want to keep it simple. any suggestions on tumblers or maybe just using one or two grits. Thanks Jason

It looks to me like the TV-5 has a plastic barrel which will probably wear out pretty fast. I see that it runs from about $124.00 - $154.00 depending on the dealer. The Lot-O-Tumbler sells for about $170.00 at therockshed.com/tumbler1.html and the barrels wear like iron. It has a 4-1/2 lb capacity which I believe is close to the TV-5? Personally,,,,I wouldn't touch a tumbler with a plastic barrel but maybe the TV-5 doesn't have a plastic barrel? Check it out,,,, connrock

Blackhills73,
I have a TV 5 and rarely use it because I don’t like it. It runs harsh and sometimes causes chipping, fractures, & undercutting. It does have a plastic barrel, by the way. If I were to buy another vibe it would be the Lot O because of all of the good reviews it has received here.
Peace,
Rich

Good advice, turns out The Rock Shed is only about an hour drive from here. I will go check out the Lot O's Thanks
