Howdy folks, Finished washing and sorting my finds from yesterday. Here are just a few more pics. Thanks for lookin....Mel Big ole hunk of jasper. Kind of fractured but should make good tumbling stuff: Example of the banded flint. Some of it almost looks like Willow Creek Jasper., Lots of this in the pile but I only occasionally drag a piece home. The guy lets me hunt free so I try not to take too much of his rock. Another sort of porcelain jasper stuff. Have cabbed this before and it comes out nice when the piece is not too porous. And finally, the pic doesn't show it very well, but dang this stuff looks like dino bone on the inside. Think it's actually a form of rhyolite but it sure is a good bone mimic.

Before I read the post, I thought for sure you were going to say you found the dino bone. Sure looks like bone to me! Scott

That porcelain jasper is nice. What's the stone behind it that's holding it up? It looks like it has some interesting color combinations. Thanks for posting the photos. Paul

Paul: The stone behind it is a cobble of dendritic limestone. Actually most of them have more like flecks or streaks on a custard colored background. Real common in the Eagle Pass gravel but not good for much of anything as they are usually too porous to polish ....Mel
