I have steam bent all the Ger wall parts, and assembled one wall. After I have all three wall sections done, the next step will be the rafters for the roof. Here is what a wall section looks like. Each section will be five feet high, and 13' 4" long expanded. Closed up it is about a foot and a half wide. The geometry of this construction requires a slight bend in each piece to obtain a straight wall when expanded. Woody Expanded, and still assembling Closed up

Awesome Woody. My wife was born and raised in a ger. She is from Mongolia and the family had 13 kids.

Those are cool! I put up 3 of those in Oakley, Idaho for a retreat for a treatment center. (I just put them up I didn't build them). We spent a month there getting them all ready and building a deck there. After a few years the top section fell apart on them so I took one back to the shop and built 3 new ones and then we went back and put the new tops on and spent the weekend there. One of the best fishin holes I ever been to was close to there, I always enjoyed going there.
Nice work there Woody!

Tony:
This one is built traditional Mongolian. It will take an hour by two people to put up, or take down. Two Mongolian woman do this in about 45 minutes including the furnishings. My only trade off from traditional is the nylon bolts in place of rawhide...I think the dogs would think the rawhide knots were chew toys. The traditional gers are a portable structure, treated more like a tent.

Wow, that is fantastic. Now I know who to call if I ever need a Ger built. I think it's great you are making it traditional style aside from the rawhide. That takes a lot of craftsmanship for sure.
