February Illinois rockhunt - several pix

I spent this last weekend down by Ted in Ill, and we had some fun rockhounding and cuttin' & grindin'. Certainly can't complain about this mild winter! Rockhounding in winter was a blast!

I have to thank you again Ted (& the missus) for your hospitality. You 2 are great friends and I had a great time.

Here's part of the haul - I didn't wanna flood y'all with single pix...

Picked up some cool crinoid stems - might try to drill these for beads.



Here's some cool corals - syringopora, petosky, chain



a bunch of cool fossil plates - mostly crinoid, the top one looks like a devil's toenail type of material



Here's a thin sponge with the little bumpy thing-dingers (I forget what Ted caled them) still on



A variety of cherts and chalcedony. Scenic, brecciated, somw with crinoid stems in, etc



A cool looking granite with (I think) epidote veins in it



A coupla geodes - obviously need some scrubbin'



Lastly - An Agate!

I sure wish I had more time to hang out down there. What a blast!
