i bought this in quartzsite, but with oldtimers setting in i can't remember what it is? Can anyone help me?

That one is called Snakeskin Jasper from Australia......Mel

Isn't there usually some light green agate in amongst the red and white?

Some of these banded jaspers can vary a lot but the Aussie Snakeskin I've encountered is mostly in shades of red with white and sometimes black or gray. Indian Zebra Jasper which can look real similar is often seen with a similar pattern in red, green and white.....Mel
