So I am checking every few days now and the rotary tumbler is producing a steady stream of smooth rock. I'm posting this on my phone so I will just show all the photos in order after I type in. I started this batch last Sunday and have picked out and added once or twice this week. I didn't want to waste the not-yet-fully used slurry, so I pulled all the rocks out of both barrels, shook off as much slurry as I could into the barrel, then rinsed the rock, and pulled out all the ready and very close rock. The rock that was ready (only a few pieces) I put in a tupperware with water. I set quite a few that were nearly done but that I felt I could get to 100% on the grinder, there were Lot of those. I was able to fit the remaining content from both barrels into a single barrel, then I took some brecciated jasper and pet wood from wampidy, some az rainbow pet wood from stonesthatrock that I chiseled up, some wonderstone I got from nmonyx, and a bunch of scrap I got from an ebayer, put it in the slurry of the second barrel & added a little sic to both and set them tumbling.

Thats a great batch of rocks in the strainer. Sounds like you have gotten a great assortment of rocks. The slurry looks very thick. I dont think any of ours has gotten that thick yet but maybe thats why our 60/90 takes 4-5 weeks each time so far. Chuck

Some of these have been tumbling for over 6 weeks. The dry ones are the ones I am going through on the grinder because they are so close and I want to keep as much of the color and features as I can.
The slurry comes from constantly adding new rock I think. I keep pulling any that are ready out and adding new ones in.

Wow, there are some really cool rocks there. I like the green one on the right in the fifth picture. There's no pattern, but I really like the color.

If you mean the lower right green one I think I don't know what it is. The upper right one is epidote from here in Colorado from some rockhounding earlier this year.

So the question that will help everyone is... what did you do DIFFERENTLY this time than you did before that stopped the pitting and cracking:)?

I am pulling then out and grinding them. Many of these are ones that have been pitting the whole time and I wanted to save them on the grinder.
