There are a few rocks in the bottom. I put them there to get the oil higher. So I don't have to buy as much.
I have slabs of it on ebay.
Thanks

Clyde its the same one. I posted that on your post. Mine was $300 in bad shape. It took hours to fix it up it was so rusty and had broke bolts I had to re tap. Yours looks so much better taken care of. Mine took 2 gallons of oil but I added another because it was getty thick fast. It cuts very slow but thats good for the blade.
Helen,
This is Rhyolite, it is a bit different than jasper. Rhyolit is like a lava flow from a volcano. Not all of it is this pretty. I am pretty lucky to have this nice stone.

Jason, can you tell which will be the best looking stones by the outside? Or do you pick up all material that looks right and find out by cutting into it when you get home? I always wondered that:).

Helen,
It just depends what I am collecting. When I go out to the Rio Puerco to get Agate, Jasper and Petrified wood. I can tell which one is good on the outside. At the candy rock claim I have to have a hammer and break off an edge to see inside. Some of the material is softer and don't polish like glass. I have been leaving that behind but was asked to collect it too for my friends in Zuni NM that carve fetishes.

Thanks, Jason:). I just took a quick look at your website... you're the guy who does those INCREDIBLE shape sculptures! I think anyone who loves sculpture, especially huge ones, really need to take a look at yours. That's better eye candy than your eye candy rocks:).
