Hello everyone, Here is what I did this weekend (not related to the knife ;D). I found a Laguna (I think) nodule. Jamie - Desertdweller gave it to me some months ago. Thank you very much Jamie! Firstly, the stone: ![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Groove/P2190752.jpg) As you see, I chose a shape to avoid the crumbly shell but to keep as much as possible from the beautiful material. Here is the pre-form: ![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Groove/P2190753.jpg) And the finished cab. The pointy shape sent me to the idea of faceting it instead of doming, so I made a sort of "Cabojohn" (for the new members, "cabojohn" is a term we use here for flat cab with chamfered edges, the style John Sandsman used to treat our eyes a while ago) ![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Groove/P2190757.jpg) ![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Groove/P2190756.jpg) And I also groove wrapped this cab: ![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Groove/P2200771.jpg) ![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Groove/P2200766.jpg) ![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Groove/P2200767.jpg) Thank you for looking, Adrian

Ah, "cabojohn" - I have been making these and not realizing it. I did see that thread but thought it was simply a play on words, didn't realize it had evolved into its own new meaning.
I need to learn to groove wrap. I assume there is some piece of hardware that creates a level, even groove, just haven't gotten there yet.
Thanks for sharing, very pretty material.

Me to I need to learn the groove wrap as there are times when you do not want to detract from the beauty of the stone. Great look Adrian. Stu

Chuch, I addapted my home built cabbing machine to do those groove wraps (using a thin diamond blade and a guide for holding the cabs). But if you folks can get those Inland groove bits together with the machine, of course it's more convenient.

That sounds like a cool setup. Next time you are posting pictures I would like to see some showing your groove cutting setup if possible. thanks Chuck
