Beautiful, both of them! Is the moonstone heart made out of one piece? If not, the seam is the best I have ever seen.

Thanks Adrian The 2 parts of the moonstone were cut from the same slab, reattached, although I did reverse the order Fortunately, Jo cut that slab thick I think that is 1 key to good seams The extra grind on a thick piece will get past any raggedy edge Plus the nature of the moonstone (schiller effect)l helps the blend. On thinner slabs (and particular type of stones) I have real difficulty with raggedy edges. The saw leaves a ragged edge. The Gryphon is great to square an edge, on a flat slab, but it too as a tendency to chip the edge. A 80grit wheel does also Using a finer grade wheel would probably help that But ultimately doing it off the wheel is just for roughing A good flat lap is the quickest solution I would think The flat lap I use only rotates at 420 rpm It great for flattening the edge -but doesn’t remove stock very fast. With my time constraint-- I sort of accept what there. I have tried chamfering the edge of a ragged stone with varying degrees of success. I came up with another idea today-- I’ll try. It might be a solution with the equipment I have. I’d like to come up with a quick method/machine to not only get a clean edge but also a precise flat parallel edge Right now its all eye/hand coordination Two things going south on me Ha ha A Baldor grinder or something similar ![](http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/370x/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_16929.jpg) Or even a heavy duty vertical belt sander hhhhmmmm…. O and to address Nate! The rock’n heart is a science, an art ,and a blast to craft! It evolved so much. They can be real buggers though! But my time, different techniques, and all around experience as all kept me on the quest I’ve crafted about 400 Guess I’m real slow at mastering something But it been a journey that kept me happily busy. That’s a good thing ! Hope the above is coherent. Ed
