Hmmm. So are the Deming club members going to high grade and strip all the good stuff from the Big Diggins before the paid fieldtrippers get there this year. I've heard a lot of complaints about that being a problem from friends who have gone. Good friend of mine said the pits were stripped, and the piles dug from the pit also pretty bare, but every Deming club guy at the show had a big pile of fresh Big Digggins material for sale at fairly high prices in their booths......Mel

We did the outdoor show once. 50 mph winds every day. Dust (they called it "Deming Fog") so thick you couldn't see 50 feet. Sunday morning it snowed. I don't remember why we never went back.

Yes. My wife, daughter, and I will be there on Saturday the 10th. Will be there around noon or so. Been going to that show for years.

Don't bother with the pits. It's all elbows with 50 people smashing every piece of rock they can find into smithereens. Search the hills and you'll find plenty of stuff. If you go with the crowd, wear goggles!

Well, we went to the Deming show on Saturday and wouldn't you know? It was cloudy, rainy and snowy. Got so see only the indoor vendors and a couple of hard-core vendors that were partially open outside. I did buy several pounds of New Mexico chalcedony to tumble. It's okay. What was really, really cool is that all of us (wife and two daughters and me) all went out there. It's been a few years since all four of us had gone and we've been doing that since they were toddlers. What with both of them in college and working and such, this made for a great trip for us all. Thought about driving the one hundred plus miles again on Sunday, but instead passed. The plan is to go to Quartzite next year.
