Well, I sold a few cabs, handed out some cards and talked to some nice vendors, so all in all, I did okay today. Most of the vendors I talked to today said sales were slow this year. I showed my cabs to about 5 vendors and they all liked what I had, but they had all the stones they needed for now. I did sell 3 cabs to one vendor who is a wire wrapper and she may be joining our message board. I got some good info on other shows to hit where I may have better luck hooking up with vendors who would be interested in buying my cabs. So for now, my next step is to build a web site, and keep on cutting mor cabs. Thanks everyone for your encouragement and support.

I bet if you take that display to jewelers you might have some good bites. Glad to hear you had some interest. THere's a show up here in October suppodesely(sp). I have yet to hear anything about it, but it happens every october. It's a good mix of vendors with lots of jewelers and some local artisans. I'll keep you posted. A website? I was wondering when you would start one up. I think your work would really stand out. You have a great variety of rocks and honestly your cabs look better than many cabs I find on the internet anyway. Steve

Cher
Glad you took that first step. Maybe you didn't sell many but you sold some and thats a start. Keep a positive outlook and I think you'll do OK. A web site is a good idea, it gets both your name and your product out where people can familiarize then selves with it. Your on the right track. Keep moving forward.
Keep um rollin

Good job Ed, getting your name out there is one of the most important things i think. And i sometimes cant believe the stones and shapes allot of local jewelers here use. So they can be more prone to bying fine cut cabochons out of prime material than vendors at gemshows. BUt you find that rutine and make it happen im sure of it.

I'm glad that you got out there and got your feet wet, Ed. Sounds like you had a good time. It can be pretty intimidating putting yourself out there like that. It's kind of hard not to get discouraged with all the importing of cabs. From what I have experienced you need to develop a rather select group of buyers that would rather buy quality cabs that are hand crafted rather than the material imported from the far east.
Just my opinion, but I think your cabs will stand the test of time. Nice original styles that show craftsmanship. Keep up the good work and success will follow! Take care, Bill
