do any of you have any peices with hyalite in them...i was just banging around on the internet...and seen some peices from where we get our rock that have it in them...i think i tossed some peices that were real vuggy that looked exactly like it..the pics i saw on the internet looked cool under a blacklight.
if you do what do you do with it...cut around it?...display it?...whats it good for?. ;D ;D ;D

cpdad: I find it in thundereggs I cut once and awhile. Usually just clear to whitish common opal with no color. Sometimes it's even kinda crackly or frothy. Not much good for anything and usually cracks badly when it drys out. I usually just chuck it or cut around it. If it gets agatized, sometimes it forms nice bands or swirlls that can be incorporated into a specimen....mel

xactly what i thought...it didnt look nice...so i cut around it...and throwed it away....but i will be getting a blacklight in case i find a big chunk....hahahahahahaha

The Hyalite that I have (from Montana mostly) doesn't glow with longwave UV so you probably want to get yourself a shortwave UV lamp.
A lot more stuff fluoreces with shortwave, but the lamps are more expensive and harder to find than longwave UV.
