Does lightening strike twice? LOL Well I'm back and with all of these beautiful cabs I know one thing. There will be a storm. I got this material from Dan (Highplains Drifter) when he had one of his "slabaganza auctions last summer. Having just started out at that time I made most of my slab purchases with the intent to work with them when I became more experienced. This is a piece of, please forgive me for the uncertainty, either Deshutes or Biggs. I neglected to label it when I received it. It is a very hard material and takes a glass-like shine. The material was so hard I thought my 80 grit was in need of replacement. LOL For all of you lovers hidden scenes in a stone this piece has a lot going on if you look closely. The finished cab is a circle which measures 2.25" in diameter and because the material has such a hardness and the fact that this was the first circlular cab I cut it took a little over three hours from slab to cab. Roy, in another thread, you asked for some pictures. Here they are. Thanks for looking and enjoy the contest. Stu THE SLAB AS MARKED FOR THE TRIM SAW THE FINISHED CAB A SHINE SHOT OUTDOORS WITH SOME CLOUDS A FACE IN THE CLOUDS

Absolutely well done. And HUGE!
If you turn it to the left, I see a church on a hill-top with a huge array of mountains as backdrop. LOL

I just made this cab tonite... it's my 3rd cab, but I figured that there weren't that many entries in this contest, so I'll throw it in. The entries are beautiful and impressive as always! But I figured this contest could use another entry:). I did not work from a slab. This is the original (small piece of 'tumble' odd - burro creek? - from Paulshiroma): So... I sort of shaped it roughly, then tumbled it: Well the tumbler ate hunks out of the matrix, and it looked really awful (back was worse), so I cabbed it tonite at the rock club. Now it looks like Snuffy's field of flowers, in a clear blue sky with some clouds, viewed through a glass (slight distortion of field): Finished: The shine: The back (I like this almost as much as the front, and it's polished too): Slightly different angle to get better view of the little round matrix orbitals (beats me what they are, but they look JUST like flower heads): I usually take pix with my fingers in them so you can see that the colors in the image were not changed, the saturation/vibrancy was not increased, and if you blow it up, there's no blurring of a single pixel. No brush/healing Photoshop effect used. There is no editing other than color correction to the flesh tone of the fingers, the rock really is that interesting. (I note this because I CAN photoshop, and other photoshoppers can test if they want to). Oh! I didn't do a preform shot because I've never done a preform, so I can't take any preform shots, it's freehand. The tumble shot is kind of a preform tho. The cab looks interesting and angular from every angle. I am adding in the pix of the sides. On the left side, it looks like it's an oval tube (with a different interesting 'picture'): On the right side, it's another oval with a uniquely interesting picture: Turned 3/4 to the right, it's a triangle with a new picture (geometric triangles in triangle): 3/4 other side, triangle w/ parallel lines: And another 45 degrees, we have a perfect diamond shape w/ yet a different picture (flower w/ stem): Other side diamond (sorry, missed a mm on that turn from camera angle, but you can still see it) - MERMAID!!! LOL! : I made it so it was sort of an optical illusion depending on how you turn it:). There, now you all know exactly how detail oriented, geeky, and retentive I am. hehe.

Love the color and Layout. Looks great and has such a huge diversity of perspectives. That's what I would call; Entry with a bang!
