A couple of weeks ago we went to AZ and met up with some new friends of ours from Michigan who were on their first trip to the southwest. Brian/beefjello and Christa took us on a trip out towards Chimney Beds/Fourth of July Peak, not far from Phoenix, for a great day of rocking. Here's some intrepid rockers heading out into the desert: Beef and puppie96 scoping out the ground: Christa taking five at the car: Surprise visitors! The elusive desert bighorn sheep: And here's just a small sampling of the rocks. First, lots of amazing moss: And lots of agate too. I will try to take more agate photos in the future. I was derailed by a broken camera. Last but not least, a couple of other wildlife photos from other days of the trip: Would you believe a pet bobcat spotted in Wickenburg? It was in a car with Wyoming tags. Unfortunately, by the time the camera was ready to go, they had finished their walk and its owners had put it back in the car. And a couple of those well known Burro Creek burros! Thank you again and again for a great day out there, Brian!

How cool was that running into the desert sheep!! They were maybe 50 yards away, very aware but unconcerned, and posing for your pictures Here's a few pix we took this saguaro was pointing to the agates and this one held a big nest Christa took this group shot Again it was our pleasure! Looking forward to next time!! ;D

Wow Beef, now you got the cactus helping you out...LOL. Looks like a great trip glad you all got some great rocks and had a fun time. I've been to 4th of July Butte but never saw desert bighorn sheep, very cool. I've also seen the burros at burro creek, they are elusive but when water is available you can find them. I did get to see a desert bighorn sheep on the way home from AZ this year. It was right before the bridge over the Hoover Dam so I wasn't able to stop to take a picture (I'll bet he knew that and picked just that spot to taunt me...lol). Still cool anytime I see a wild critter.

All superlative: scenery, rocks and above all people who met!
Couldn't imagine a bobcat as a pet, this is the biggest feline here. It's known to be very shy (hard to see any of them) but in the same time dangerous even for humans.

Looks like an awesome time. Thanks for all the great pics. Hopefully when life (and expenses) settles down, I can make a trip to AZ or the Northwest or somewhere and meet up with some of you awesome folks...
