I have a strange request. I live in Utah and my 22 year old son will die because of Cancer sometime this summer to fall at the latest. Right now he feels good and wants to be out. He has an idea that he would like to make something for his mom and each of his 5 sisters as a parting gift. We have collected Topaz and other things here in central Utah, and made bracelets, ear rings, and necklaces, and have had fun doing it. So do any of you have an idea of what we could go get, and where we might go to get it? I know that is vague, but we are going to Las Vegas next week and will begin our search so any ideas of places between Utah and there would be great.

Hi James, I'm sorry to hear about your son although that's pretty cool that he wants to make a parting gift. I'm down in SoCal and don't know the areas around Vegas but I know there are other forum members who know of places to hit up. You might also check out the Gem Trails series of books by James R Mitchell. There's one for Nevada and Utah that might have places you can get to on the way.

Quite a few places around Cedar City to pick up some really cool stuff.
Best of luck to you both.

James,
Sorry to hear about your son. I have a 23 year old & can't imagine what you're going through.
I live in Cedar City. I'll take you out near my house & you'll find some beautiful agates of just about every color but green. Lots of dendrites too. I'll be in town until Friday the 16th, then gone all that weekend.
PM me & I'll give you my phone #.
Lynn
