I have a friend who is just going through a miserable situation. I know she likes larger jewelry, but nothing too flashy. I know this is completely subjective but if I finished this, is it TOO big? It isn't done yet, I still need to work on the dome. Sitting across my palm for scale. Just looking for opinions, good, bad or indifferent are all fine. Thanks all.

The picture possibilities in that piece leave a lot to imagination/contemplation.
Don't worry too much about the seize, what matters most will be a gift from a friend in a time of need. Plus it will get smaller/lighter when you do the dome anyway.
Great going, Kurt

Nice looking stone it should finish out real nice. if you are speaking just in terms of size. That would best be determined by the size of the woman wearing it. What would look just right on a woman who is very tall might be to large on a woman who is very petite. Though for a pendant I don't think the size will play that big a role. Stu

Hi John,
Ok, somebody has to say it, so it may as well be me.... "It's not the size, it's how you use it!" With a large pendant, either go with a long chain...like 30"...great for wearing in the office, or a very short cord...16-18" depending on the size of the woman's neck. For summer wear, I'd say do the cord. Hope this helps! :-)

Very subjective subject. I agree that that it will be a very thoughtful gift that will be received in the spirit given. I have been able to set some monster stones that visually slimmed the stone, so your stone may end up large and by large I, personally, mean over 50mm long, then you can try setting it in a way that doesn't add much more visual weight. At the risk of seeming self serving here's a link to a huge stone that I set as an example of what I mean. By doing it the way I did it, it downplayed the size quite a bit. telaformosa.blogspot.com/p/cabochon-necklaces.html#ecwid:category=1789569&mode=product&product=8230410 Hope you take this as me trying to be helpful.
