Krystee, do you do any slabbing with your saw? I bought the same blade that you use. I cannot seem to get a straight cut if my life depended upon it.
Also, I wonder if an 8" blade would work.

Bob, yes I slab smaller rocks with it and use it mostly for trimming. I get good cuts with it. The tile saw I have it on is a Skil brand. I took the splash guard off and run it backwards so the water sprays away from me.
I cut a flat face on the portion of the rock that will be the bottom so that it will lay flat on the table. Then I set my guide to 1/4" and don't use pressure on the rock while cutting. The blade needs to do all of the work. I gently hold my fingers on the top to hold it down against the table and use almost no pressure to move the rock forward. Ob cuts pretty fast but some stones seem to take forever. I use my saw backwards because I got tired of the torrential downpour when working harder stones.

Dog gone it, I just lost my reply to you Krystee. Thank you for your very helpful reply. I guess I will have to start using the fence. Never used it before. I am the opposite of you, I put the splash guard on and push the stone, I find it works better for me. I put on an old coat to keep dry. Although if the weather stays as nice as it has been I probably won't care if I get wet.

I go with Krystee. I have done it your way Bob.. Hot summer day. I enjoyed the spray as I cut. Later on in the day my skin started feeling dry and my hair felt stiff as a board. By the end of the day I had a gray cast. LOL I was covered in rock snot. I had a ball. But. Once was enough.
