Anyone resurfacing old thumper wheels? Both Lowes and Walmart sell a Kitchen and/or Laundry Mat that has a neoprene rubber backing. It has a fabric top to it but if you apply some acetone to the fabric you can carefully peel it off without damaging the rubber. The neoprene ends up being approx 3/16th of an inch thick. the mat I picked up at Walmart cost about $11 plus tax which seemed pretty cheap. Last one is after the fabric has been peeled off. Sorry for the blurriness

It was not necessary to remove the fabric. I have redone wheels using wetsuit neoprene, and they work just fine. The old wheels had bare neoprene because it was much less expensive than nylon covered. If you get the right thickness of neoprene on the old thumper, you could use expando belts, and not have the bumping. It would have to be a tight fit to work. Woody

Covington sells the strip for 8" drums for $4.40. They still use the Lever Lock drums on one of their combo units.

I used to go to a dive shop in San Jose that made wetsuits. They would give me the scraps. Perhaps you could find a dive shop in your area that will give you scraps or sell you pieces.
