We have an owl sanctuary pretty close to where we live. The pics aren't the best, mobile phone, next time we go I'll take a camera. These aren't all the birds they have just the ones that didn't get shy. The bosses, senior and junior, that one snuck in there. Harris hawk, wasn't in a good mood. Harris hawk. Common buzzard. Great Grey Owl Great Grey Owl. A vulture I can't remember what sort, will make notes in future. Tawny Owls. Barn Owl, it was looking straight at me until I pointed the camers at it. The shyness was catching. All the birds they have are rescued, found injured or orphaned, or no longer wanted, the wild birds are rehabillitated and released, the rest are lifers. Simon

Why isn't that white vulture Palm Nut Vulture? Saw this species in Kenya but it's been a few years and we dipped on it in South Africa. But that's my guess. Beautiful bird...

Peachfront yes that's it a palm nut vulture.
Billy the shepherd is 5 years old, his name is Major, he replaced Bear who we couldn't cope with, Bear was way to aggressive he was good with us but we couldn't have anyone come to the house, and we didn't have the time to work with him, Major is a rescue dog as well, he's pushy, cheeky, likes to answer back, and is totally nuts, so fits right in. We've had him since August last year.

Owls! I... am horribly fond of owls. Have been since I was a little kid. Wonderful pictures!

Sadly, while there are owls in my area -- we've seen the evidence of them, anyway, over the years -- they're pretty good at hiding from us. I've only seen one in the open once, and that was nearer the beach where I collect most often.

Oh, your comment reminds me that I should update my post on the story of our baby owl. Baby owls are TOO cute!

I am very happy they have a rescue center there. I love the pictures and don't mind at all that they are just on the phone. Wish we had one of those near us! Fran
