The biggest difference I see is one has a straight side. The round one has less blue stuff, the one with the straight side has more blue. What are they anyway?

I might be sticking my neck out here, but, I bet they came from different stones. Either that, or they came from different ends. Might one have been exposed to sunlight on one end for a long time? Either way, they are gonna be cool cabbed.

Hi CPDAD, neither one need to be treated or stabilized, they are both quartz based. The one on the right has a lot more hematite in it, that is the red and the hematite is also causing the dark brownish/purple areas within the quartz matrix. The two pieces are from different locations, the one on the left side of the picture has some malachite in it, that is the green mixed with the chrysocolla making the turquoise color.

Oh and on the one on the left, the brown line that is in the white area.........Well that is a hematite rind and it is very soft and crumbly. Anything inside of that brown line will stay together and should make a beautiful cab.. I will post some examples of cut stones from both of those materials in the cabs section if you want to take a look.

doc..you are correct they were from 2 diff stones....desert please do post pics of some finished peices...i would really like to see some of this finished....another weird thing...at least to me....my son picked up a peice of this and ran it under water in the sink to look at it...and it gave off a loud crackling sound for a few seconds....must have been the matrix on the outside...because the rock cut fine...and had no problems.

No CP, those are Electricals. Those stones might be larval Electrical breeding grounds! Now, the Electricals are in the air you breathe. That is how they grow in you and you do not know they are there. When we sneeze looking at the sunlight, that is really the Electricals chipping out an hole for the chip to transmit your location, and power to feed them. Tinfoil hat brudda, you brought them home. You are going to have to shove a needle nose plier up your sons nose.
