I got these last weekend at the Roseville, CA show. This one is a 1-3/4" tall Condor Agate: Paul Bunyon Agate slab: Paul Bunyon Agate end cut: Paul Bunyon Agate slab: Paul Bunyon Agate slab marked for a 3" wide cab: These are the first ones that I have ever had of this material. I think it is going to be real fun to work. Bob

Good lesson for novice cabbers in that last pic, Bob.
Start with a sharp, precise line.

Yes, A sharp line leads to precise outlines and contours on cabs especially rounds. I usually use a "Bic" pen on lighter materials. Bob

I really like the Bunyon. I've been out there digging in the debris pile and brought home some material. A couple of my friends went out there for a much longer period and started prying out some larger pieces from the crevasse- which were outstanding.
Then some firm/person from farther south 'claimed' the site.
What my friend did, though, was orient his cut horizontally with the seam so his slabs were a bunch of red orbs. It was really interesting to see the material cut untraditionally to reveal a 'new' look.
I can't wait to see what you whip up with your pieces.

That Paul Bunyon is really pretty stuff. I've never cabbed that either.

Red is my favorite color. Hope to find such lovelies at our San Jose show. Beautiful!

Nice finds. Here is a dumb question - is the line you are drawing for the bottom or top? Karock

karock, If I am not doing a freeform, I use a two-sided template and mark the line on both sides. But I am new at cabbing.

Because I cut very large cabs for my display case I use drafting templates. They have a lot of varying sizes and shapes of ovals and such. The ovals go up to 7" across so I really like them. Bob
