As I was contemplating purchasing a $5.00 lid gasket for my 15lb Thumlers Rotary, I thought about the pond store down the road. I went to them, bought a scrap of Goodyear pond liner for $7 and had enough material to make 8 lid gaskets. Just traced the top and bolt holes, cut the circle with scissors and used a paper punch to put the bolt holes in. Took about 10 minutes to knock them out.
I've been using the new liner for a few days and have had no issues so I think they will work well.
I looked to see if somebody had posted about using pond liner before but I couldn't find anybody. If this is a repeat, I apologize.

Scott, try the hardware store also. they should have rolled rubber about 3/32"x 12". when my 12# lid gaskets wore thin, that's what I used. About $4. /foot but will last a good while

I have used old innertubes and PVC shower basin liner. Both work equally well.

I use 1/4" rubber gasket material glued to my 9# Thumblers lid and it lasted about 18 months of continuous tumbling. When it thinned in the middle I glued a patch in the center and its still going. I used Gorilla glue.

I cut mine out of inner tubes the local tire shop gives me; they don't have to pay to dump them.
