Is there a trick to tumbling picture jasper? I never get a shine on it. All other jaspers shine very nicely after coming out of the vibe but I've never got any of the picture jaspers to shine. I always tumble it with other materials that share the same hardness. Any tips for getting a shine? Thanks, Scott

There is a great variance in hardness in what is called picture jasper. Some of it is rhyolite, some a combination. There have been a few that I couldn't get to polish at all, but most take at least a fairly decent polish. Are you mixing it in with other jaspers? Or even different types of "picture jaspers" together? If so, it could be a mixed hardness issue.

What Susan said. If it's really rhyolite, then you need to polish it individually on a diamond wheel or pad in my humble experience.
