This knife project started when a friend was shaping the blade from a piece of Obsidian and it broke. He gave up in frustration and gave me the blade pieces and the Boulder Opal pieces to do whatever I wished with them. I started by cutting the broken area off and gluing the pieces together and shaping the blade. I then shaped the Boulder Opal pieces for the handle and made some Siberian Nephrite decorative pieces to glue over the seam at the break. This is a photo of my semi progress on one side. I'm still working on getting the surfaces of the Boulder Opal smooth and I'm going to make some half circles of Jade for the other side of the Opal pieces. The other side progress. I have a ways to go to get it finished, though. Bob

Very cool Bob! If there is anyone that could take on & fix a problem like that it would be you. Looks great so far, can't wait to see the finished product...

Tony, Nice to hear from you again. Are you going to the gem show in San Jose this weekend? Maybe I'll see you there. Bob
