Looks like a gold section of dendritic Indian Paint Rock to me but you get similar patterns in roan leopard marble from Utah sometimes too. Really like the shape of that one...Mel

Pretty color and shape, and yet another stone I've never seen before:).

I had some common opal from the Willy Wells area with the same yellow orange color, but without the leopard spotting. Mine just had a few streaks of black in it. Think I still have a cab around here.
I found the material in a dry wash in the potato patch area.

Maybe from Hot Topic at the Mall? Great looking!

You know, it's funny that billg said that... some rocks are just so darn perfect that if you didn't have the slight imperfection in the stone, you'd think they were completely manmade. This would be one of them. It's a good thing you have those white spots in the middle:).

The colors certainly remind me of roan marble but I've never seen the pattern that small in that material. I really like the cab.

Looks like some Indian paint I've got. I agree with Mel. It's a nice one! Tony

Well, I should add....if it is soft, and seems to only want to take a sheen.

It was petty hard stuff. Cut like most jaspers I have cut.

Not roan marble then, that is pretty soft.

I think you may have found it Lowell. Hey I missed the Ventura show this year. I still have your book. I can mail it to you if you like.
