I got into my scrap pile and made a few cabs. The first one is a local quartz. Some kind of jasper, not sure where it's from. Local glacier dolomite Funny how you don't notice dust untill you look at the pictures...lol.

I agree about pictures... it's amazing that when you eyeball something, you can manage not to see dust and scratches, but they are sooo apparent when you do a closeup! This goes to show just how incredibly precise the polish is on some of the cabs you see here (like tntmom's glass cabs... holy cow - I have one... what a standard to follow!).
That said, those are lovely, but you need to go over em again, back to 220 grit, because I see scratches:P.

I know what you mean about seeing things after you take a picture. I find that until I get a loop or mag visor taking a picture is a good way of locating imperfections it is like having a map that shows all the spots that need going over. Don't be discouraged as most of us find ourselves going back to the 2nd wheel to correct something that was missed. They are some great cabs Stu

The template for the second and third are just standard templates that have been around for more than thirty years. I didn't spend the time on them that I should have. I was making an 8mm trillion cab out of amythist for a ring and didn't want to just do one at a time.
