Mel sent a chunk of thulite for me to slab on trade and I just finished the first ring from it. If someone were to write a book about awesome stuff this would be it. This rock has four colors, pink, white, green and black and has almost zero flaws or fractures. It cuts and drills so smooth it takes very little finish work and when the hole saw drops through the back of the slab there is very little break out. This test ring was taken out of a mostly white area with just a hint of pink and a little green to black. I have some slab areas where I will make rings with a black band and larger pink top that are going to be gorgeous. The dark areas in this ring look more green than black which is not a bad thing. Maybe the really black areas are just really dark green that looks black. Either way there will be some awesome rings coming from this rock.

Helen, I always do my test rings in the least desirable areas and in this case it was a white area. In person the white actually has a very faint pink tint but not much. The areas with pink are not going to be done in the round. I am going to try for a larger area with pink on the top of the ring. I am going to practice with the dremel before I work on those so I do not ruin them. Jim

Jim's rings are wonderful. I've been wearing mine every day except when I'm working in the rock cutting shop.

Very dreamlike material. I like it! You did a gorgeous job with this first "test run." Can't wait to see what the others look like!
