What a shame that it's so impossible for Paul to recover his rocks. He's a real classy guy and top notch seller.
On a comedy note, I sent the seller a question regarding a discount considering the material is stolen. Will be interesting to see if there's a response.

What if a "feedback mob" were to make purchases and then use the feedback as a forum to "out" this individual. He already has less than stellar feedback.

Ok... I'm an idiot about Dougy... HOW did Dougy rip people off? Why would Paul ship without getting a paypal from Dougy? Was it a trade??

Helen, did you read the links that Krystee posted at the top of this thread ? Dougy is a thief, plain and simple.

Helen,
Mr. Mendoza, aka Dougy worked for Paul and was a trusted friend for 15 years. When Paul had a bad illness in the family he left Dougy in charge and had to leave the state. Mr. Mendoza and his girlfriend used the unsupervised opportunity to steal his collection.
Later Dougy joined several forums, including RTH and also started selling the stolen goods on Ebay. When he first joined RTH everyone welcomed him with open arms, made purchases from him and all seemed good. When people got comfortable with him and trusted him he took in several orders, received the payments, never shipped the goods and vanished.
We found out later that this Dougy was the thief in Pauls rock business. Really sad.
If you click on the 2nd link you will get the run down of the entire ordeal.
That is one of the main reasons when new people sign up and their first post is to sell stuff, RTH'ers are sometimes intimidated. A lot of people got ripped off and the ones that didn't felt regret that they purchased and received stolen property.

Oh my gosh. I just read the first thread... it does not give a list of what was stolen tho. It mentioned obsidian, live shrimp, pet wood. Just did a quick ebay search for seller Dougy224 (fast way to find all his listings... click Advanced Search, click box on left "By Seller", paste Dougy224). He's selling fire agates and live shrimp, some driftwood, and some grey rocks. So missing inventory is obsidian, fire agates, pet wood so far. At one of the big shows this year, someone stole an ENTIRE TRAILER full of sunstones: tucsongemshow.blogspot.com/2012/02/theft-alert-sunstone-dealer-robbed-at.htmlSo I know not to buy sunstones at all. But without an idea of WHAT was stolen, how do you know what to look out for? Are there photos of the missing inventory??

Krystee, on the second link you posted, I saw the name Mojave Jo listed as one of the alternate names being used. I remember that name from the Treasure Hunting Wiki. He was on there a year or so back, and as I remember trying to sell mining claims. I just checked, and he's no longer listed as a member over there. I'll check with some of the older members and see if anyone has any contact info on him.

Don't we have some people here who sell Fire Agate on ebay regularly. This guy has 4 different costumers right now, maybe someone recognizes them through feed-back and can warn them off, or at least get some info into his feedback. There are not that many people buying Fire Agate, so it should be fairly easy to figure out for someone who has access to real data.
Someone knows Isolo? He will know who those buyers are.

Helen, I don't know if the photos of Dougy's offerings are still available but the quality of the stones, at least some of the Agates pictured, was absolutely superb, and the price offered maybe should have made it obvious that the items were a "steal." I didn't see them in person but I saw the photos and was blown away. My heart would be broken if it's my collection that was stolen so I really feel for the victim. Unfortunately, there are a certain number of people who can't resist stealing a fine stone or gem. Always have, always will be. I too was robbed by a supposed "partner" years ago. It's very hurtful. You spend time putting together a nice collection, and somebody sells off pieces and they don't even make that much money off it because they're trying for the "fast" sale.

He has to be mailing these stones out with a return address. If not an address at least a specific post office. Seems like he could be caught through that. I would be willing to buy from him to get this info but I would have no idea what to do with it. Any suggestions? Jim

Funny thing about our friend Dougy. I have not seen this mentioned but it just came to mind. When I purchased from him (one of the few lucky ones) he used a paypal account that was his girlfriends.

According to the info provided by Orchid, he uses numerous fabricated id's and addresses. A lot of them known to police, but some might have been created anew.
It's sad that he still is allowed to sell and even worse, that he still got buyers. Orchid is a well known and respected dealer and by now everyone should know what this fella has done. Yet there are still people buying. ;( ;(

Not ONE POUND of Owyhee, which is what I was buying from that guy on the buy/sell forum. Still think he's a THIEF? For selling what was NOT STOLEN? Bet he doesn't sell me crap anymore, and after all this, I don't want any.

Oh my gosh,
I forwarded this as a friend to the victim, and as a caution for those of you that didn't know about this before. Paul lost over 41 thousand dollars worth of material and it's stacking up every month. I just want this guy caught, he's evil.
I'm sorry if this is creating havoc with someone else's thread in the buy/sell forum.
I didn't mean to start such a controversy. Sorry...... I do think that Dougy will strike again on this forum with some username that we don't know.....
But, that's just me and my beliefs....

We want to thank everyone who has helped and try and stop this. Its been a huge distraction to say the least, and still on going but at least seems to be at a slower pace do to the board members, thank you The list of goods is not a full list by anymeans, Some items there was 2-3-10 pounds missing and not listed, in addition the most current Police report is over 70k in embezzlement on are part and I dont know how many thousands in CC fraud and theft unrelated to us ((Very Limited Owyhee taken from us, but there was a supposed theft of Owyhee from a Oregon estate and a dealer in Quartzsite was somehow involved)) Its been a learning experience for us and many others who collect and sell rocks. Again Thank you one and all Paul (orchids9)
