This is my first carving. I had been working on and off for about a year when wampidy posted the tutorial on carving. So it got me motivated to finally finish it. The material is alabaster. Overall, I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. I wasn't able to round-off the body of the swans as much as I would have preferred. Drilling the holes for mounting was a bit never-racking. I kept thinking " What if it breaks?". My maternal grandmother just turned 92 and this was her birthday present. She was more than thrilled. On a side note: When I was born, I was *extremely* lucky to have three of my great-great-grandmothers still living. Yes, you read right - three great-great-grandmothers! I've already started thinking about my next carving "Pure". Thanks for looking.

What a lovely color and very well executed. Certainly no ugly duckling.
Love the idea and how it was shaped. Looking forward to more of your exploits.

That is awesome. I started with shapes like that and it is a good learning experience while making something that is really appealing to the eye. I am happy that I caused a spark and will be looking forward to your next adventure. Jim

Thank you everyone for the encouragement. Yes, it's pink alabaster and a good material to learn to carve the first time.
