This Buzz? I think he may have PTSD . . .
Regardless who cut what, it is a shame, as relative to the budget or even the waste and fraud it is a small expense for the return.

Funny.
NASA’s the greatest thing since sliced bread . . . until they look at a thermometer.
Burn, baby, burn!

How OLD was that YouTube video:)?
Astronauts are funny creatures... those individuals were the best of the best of the best in the USA. From Astrophysics to being able to work a control panel with 2000 buttons and toggles (every lunar module). Ever read about Einstein losing his glasses on top of his head? Howling and ranting that someone took them? Think Einstein was stupid?
That's all irrelevant. Ask yourself what Romney will do to NASA.

And you are right... the 'waste' of NASA's entire budget amounts to less than 1% of our deficit. But it's WASTE so it's GOT to go so the rich can have their loopholes the rest of us don't enjoy.
Here's the thing... the reason the budget is so small is that NASA is able to partly self fund through contractors. Bring some of the scientists back and we can have our cake and eat it too in the form of commercial partnerships.
There's so much to be had, from harvesting asteroids to colonies to terraforming, with new technologies and innovations every step of the way that could transform the way we live and the options our children have.
But 1% is just too much money for the Republican Congress as it is. Next step will probably be elimination if we get a full Republican Congress.
Keep in mind that NASA was JFK's baby, and NASA helped take us to #1 in prestige worldwide, the Republicans do not care about NASA, except for lip service.
Today, Russia and China are spending like crazy on their space programs. The earth is a drop in the ocean of the Universe, anyone capable of long term planning can see that. Long term, it's who gets out to space that will determine who 'wins'. And we are bogged down in the most useless penny pinching discussions, while the big picture falls away, and the edge the entire nation sacrificed to get is thrown in the trash as a 'waste'.

Goldberg: NASA's crucial missions hijacked by liberal agenda www.chron.com/opinion/outlook/article/Goldberg-NASA-s-crucial-missions-hijacked-by-1697956.phpYes, he is a conservative. This was the motto of the teams behind NASA's Apollo mission: "Waste anything but time." That spirit has long since evaporated. Today's NASA is pulled by a million missions, from improving education and spinning off more products like Tang to its latest call of duty: telling Muslims how good they are at math. NASA chief Charles Bolden recently told Al-Jazeera TV that President Obama charged him with three crucial missions: (1) "help reinspire children to want to get into science and math"; (2) "expand our international relationships"; and (3) "perhaps foremost," Bolden explained, president Obama "wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world ... to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering." We've gone from "waste anything but time" to "waste everything, especially time" in about a generation. Liberalism is caught in something of a Catch-22. Under Obama, liberals are determined to reinvigorate the reputation of government, to prove that only the state can get important things done.

That's because they spend more time exploring ways to keep NASA's FUNDING going than RESEARCH. BECAUSE of the Deficit.
That's BECAUSE of the Republicans and the 'waste' bullshit. You can't DO pure science today, it has to make money, so you look for TANG's, not the pure calculations for the logistics of landing a full spacecraft of humans with a biohabitate on the surface of Mars. You don't get paid to do those calculations, so you think of TANGs to sell.
You can play mad scientist in your garage if you have money, but if you have no money, you whore yourself out to make money first, so you can play mad scientist in your garage.
NASA has no budget, they have to explore the commercialization first. Science becomes a backburner. Everything they do now has to be accountable, every nickel. If that means they have to create TANG, that's what they have to do to continue to exist. How much real science you think is getting done in those conditions?
I remember the Republicans CRYING about the cost of the heat resistant ceramic tiles that allowed earth reentry into the atmosphere. It's a TILE, why does a TILE cost so much MONEY? They only cost $1 at Home Depot? Damned wasteful NASA.
More bullshit Republican spin. My entire problem with the party today is that they have become the party of lies.

It was both Bush and Clinton. You guys have NO IDEA of the incredible things NASA was working on before they laid everyone off. Bwahaha, I knew Bush did it. Curt
