Pliers!! ;D The quality of pliers will determine the final product, and these are the absolute best for the lowest price. They are the same ones that I use, I've tried many and these are comfortable and produce the best cuts and bends. I added yellow arrows to show exactly what I use. Thanks for posting this information, Randy. I bought some really (really) cheap (in every sense of the word) pliers to practice with since I'm just starting this and that may have been a mistake

Probably a good way to ruin learning in a hobby.
