Just as guess based on weight and looks as I'm not a mineral guy. I'd guess a water rounded garnet crystal. Garnet is often translucent and they are pretty heavy too. Dodecahedron crystals can round off to almost marble shaped stones....Mel

What size is that? BB, marble, cue ball, basketball? It looks like a glass marble to me, except for the not so obvious flat spots...
